Josef Pavlistik - Interview

Let us introduce another amazing member of our DTCSP Team. Learn more about our Network Strategy & Steering manager Josef Pavlistik in this interview.

I started my career in supply chain consulting and after brief but intense experience in online retail; I landed in Daimler Group at DTCSP where I started as warehouse equipment and automation planner. In October 2021 due to Project FOCUS I left to Mercedes Benz Česká Republika (as DTCSP became part of Daimler Trucks, but our team stayed in Mercedes-Benz). Couple of months later when the opportunity to lead a team responsible for new after sales logistics network design for DTAG came, I was happy to return to DTCSP. Besides work, I am enjoying the time with my family and I also really like hiking and climbing in the mountains with friends and hope to finish my mountain leader license soon.

What are your tips on building a career?

I believe first necessary step is to internally find out what you enjoy doing, think about how and where you can apply it and then just go for it. I was always interested in technology but saw my future self rather in finding applications of the existing technology into business than inventing a new one. After I chose my career direction, I focused on learning a lot from every project. I looked around with an open mind and made the most of all opportunities and challenges around me. Last (but definitely not least!) I always try to maintain good relationships with people around me to really build and maintain good people network.

How do you see your new role as manager?

It is still fresh for me, but I do like it very much. First change is obviously having a team and getting more responsibilities to do (sometimes-difficult) decisions that directly influence more strategic topics in the company. My target is to become an authentic leader by promoting personal development, self-responsibilities and open feedback in the team.

How do you find balance between having a career and having a family?

Even with the one-year-old baby on board now, I think it works quite well. I need to thank my wonderful fiancée – having a reliable partner makes the child’s upbringing much easier. I also need to thank DTCSP for the flexibility and trust given to me. Then only good time management is needed and both career and family are possible to enjoy to the fullest without any compromises.
